Fireman Welles R. Crowther

Inspiring

The Man in the Red Bandana

Even though I’ve been involved with lacrosse for over fifty years, it wasn’t until 2020 that I learned the story of The Man in The Red Bandana - Welles Crowther.  He was truly heroic on 9/11, sacrificing his life while making multiple trips up in the tower to rescue many others.

When I watched the Tom Rinaldi piece on ESPN it brought me to tears, and moved me to make this art  piece for his parents, Jeff and Alison Crowther. While looking up their address I was saddened to find that Jefferson Crowther had passed in 2019.  Alison appreciated the gesture and misses both of her men.
